<p style="direction: ltr;">Over the history of applied linguistics ,different theories of learning have been proposed to account for how grammar is learned .During the middle of the previous century ,for instance ,grammar learning was though to take place through a process of verbal habit formation .</p>

<h3 style="direction: ltr;">Language and culture: introduction</h3>

<p style="direction: ltr;">Most English language teachers in Iraq do not have much knowledge of the target culture of the language they teach.</p>

<p style="direction: ltr;">They consider target language isolated beyond its culture. They, therefore, stress the interdependence of language and culture.</p>
